an excess of rain

perpetual rain, yielding perpetual baptism

a perpetual reminder that forgiveness is perpetual

and righteousness not first required*

walking out into the deluge

i inevitably ran into you

storm drenched and untouchable

'pray for me' you yelled,

across the parking lot

i do too much of that

but am forgiven, perpetually

for all my excesses

i forgive him too,

for this excess of rain

  1. A part of me wants to pick away at this poem. I've read it over several times and I have several tweaks in mind but I've realised that all I would be doing is trying to make the poem more like one of mine which it is not so I'll leave well alone. It works fine as it stands.
